Dr. Ben Carson Memoir To Air On TNT Network

Academy Award-winner Cuba Gooding Jr. will portray Dr. Benjamin S. Carson in a TNT Original television movie, “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story,” the cable network said. The movie will air on TNT February 7.

Fire Devastates Upper Columbia Conference Office

The Upper Columbia Conference office in Spokane, Wash., was significantly damaged by fire, Sunday, December 28. The fire, first reported around 5 a.m., destroyed more than half of the building, including the Adventist Book Center, board room, and central administrative offices. By late in the day, firefighters were hopeful of containment, trying to salvage at least a portion of the west wing of the building, including Positive Life Radio affiliate KEEH FM studios and He’s Alive television. Cause of the fire is still undetermined.

None of the usual UCC office e-mail and phone contacts are immediately available, although IT personnel are hopeful to have some if not all restored later in the week. Conference leaders are working on interim headquarters options and are contacting staff to ensure continuity of essential services.

Memorial Services for Wally Coe and Harold Roll

Elder Wallace (Wally) Coe passed away Wednesday evening. Coe served as a General Vice President at the Seventh-day Adventist World Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, and served as President of Florida, Northern Union, Central Union, and Columbia Union Conferences.

Memorial services will be at the Mount Dora Seventh-day Adventist Church, September 27, 4:00 p.m.

Coe is survived by Hazel, his wife of 63 years; son Michael Coe; and daughter Janet Page.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Evangelism work may be made in his name.

Elder Harold Roll also passed away Wednesday evening. Roll served as Secretary-Treasurer of Florida Conference, as Secretary of Southern Union Conference, and Vice President of Adventist Health System.

Memorial services will be at Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL - (407) 293-1361

Viewing: September 21, noon
Graveside service: 1:00 p.m.

Roll is survived by Lillian, his wife; son Gene; and daughter Shelley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel.
