ACS/ACTS—Hurricane Wilma Response Update

Posted at 12:27 pm

Florida Adventist Community Services and Adventist Community Team Services (ACS/ACTS) are currently helping in the Florida Keys, providing food and water to those affected by Hurricane Wilma.

Beginning this weekend, crews of 20-40 volunteers are needed to assist with clean-up efforts, including pulling out carpeting from homes flooded by storm surge. The ACS/ACTS team will be working in the Keys for approximately three weeks. Volunteers may dedicate any amount of available time during this period. ACS/ACTS is also recruiting volunteers for ongoing recovery and outreach mission projects in the Keys.

Both short-term and long-term volunteers can arrange for housing at the Islamorada relief center by contacting Pastor Andre van Heerden at 305/395-0912. This center can accommodate up to 40 people.

ACS/ACTS is also providing ongoing relief effort commodities for distribution centers set up by the Fort Lauderdale Church and Southeastern Conference’s Mt. Olivet Church.
