Drawing others to Jesus is the goal of staff and students at Forest City Adventist School in Altamonte Springs. Every year Joan Waite’s 7th- and 8th-grade classes willingly accept the invitation from Elisa Garcia, director of Kids’ Ark Development Center, to conduct the Annual Week of Prayer.
On Monday, January 24, Voluntary Pre-K students from Kids’ Ark and the Kindergarten students from Forest City Adventist School gathered for a special Week of Prayer, themed “The Life of Jesus.” Waite helped her students prepare for this event through prayer, study, and research. The students wrote a play for each day that portrayed the life of Jesus. They prepared their own costumes and learned their lines in an effort to influence their younger friends to surrender their lives to Jesus.
- During the Week of Prayer, David Nuñez, Mario Hernandez, and Kevin Fleming, as disciples, choose to follow Jesus, played by Kelvin Gomez.
- During a Week of Prayer skit, Reuel Rangel and Sharon Lugo discuss how Jesus fed 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fishes.
- The 7th- and 8th-grade students take a curtain call at the end of Week of Prayer, accompanied by their Kindergarten buddies.
- Forest City Adventist School students ended the Week of Prayer with Kelvin Gomez, as Jesus, inviting all to become His disciples.

This was no ordinary week of prayer….It was a skit, which is pretty close to a simulation. I am sure those little ones will not forget what they saw using this multi-sensory simulation approach! Great job, 7th & 8th graders!
