Contact Martin Butler, Editor, for story submissions. Upon receiving a response, you may include the story in the e-mail message, or attach a Word or WordPerfect document. (We generally cannot accept any other formats, including—but not limited to—Microsoft Works, Microsoft Publisher, and Apple Pages.)
Accepted stories will be edited and published on our web site or in print as deemed relevant. Please target your story length to approximately 300 words.
Include the story author’s name and contact information.
Photographs
High resolution digital photos are preferred. The original JPEG file from the digital camera with no alterations should be sent. No collages or photo editor manipulations. We can perform color adjustments and minor manipulations as deemed necessary.
The camera should be configured to use the maximum possible resolution and quality, especially for photos to be used in print publication. For example, a three-megapixel camera produces an image approximately 2048 X 1536 pixels in size.
Do not embed photos into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, or any other files. They are often difficult—if not impossible—to retrieve from these files and may lose full size resolution even if we can retrieve them. Attach the JPEG files directly to an e-mail message.
Check your e-mail settings regarding photo attachments. Many e-mail providers default to reducing the size of photo attachments to make them go through e-mail faster. If you cannot ensure that your e-mail system is not sending the original/unaltered photo, try using a service such as YouSendIt or DropSend. You may ZIP compress multiple photos into a single archive file, if desired.
The Florida Conference e-mail system has a 10-megabyte limit on attachment to each e-mail. You may need to send multiple e-mails with only a few photos, or even just one, attached to each. Alternatively, compress multiple photos into a ZIP archive and use one of the file sending services, above.
Include full names and identification for every person prominent and explain what is happening in each photo. Also include the name of the photographer and contact information for each photo submitted.
